A 38-year-old woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a garbage truck while cycling in downtown Toronto on Tuesday morning.
The woman was struck by the truck at Yonge and Gerrard streets shortly before 8:45 a.m.
After the woman was hit, the driver did not stop at the scene, but police said it is possible the driver was not aware that the cyclist had been hit. The truck was located nearby.
Police are investigating to determine whether charges are warranted.
