A 39-year-old male cyclist struck by a police car in Scarborough’s Kennedy Park neighbourhood is in hospital in serious condition.

According to the Special Investigations Unit, the cyclist was travelling westbound on Merrian Road shortly before midnight when he entered the intersection at Kennedy Road and was involved in a collision with a northbound police car.

The SIU says that the cyclist suffered several fractures as a result of the collision and was taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

The SIU has designated one subject officer and two witness officers as part of their investigation.
