The disappearance of a 32-year-old man from Vaughan is now being investigated by the local homicide squad.

Sina Parsi was last seen leaving a soccer game in the area of Teston Road and Highway 400 on June 9 at around 10:15 p.m. He left the game in his 2012 black Dodge Ram pick-up truck.

York Regional Police said Thursday that they located his vehicle and wallet in a parking lot in the Jane Street and Alliance Avenue area around 1:15 a.m. on June 11. However there has been no trace of Parsi himself.

Police told CP24 Friday afternoon that homicide investigators have now taken over the search for Parsi but that the case is still classified as a missing persons case.

“This is certainly out of character for this individual,” Duty Insp. Stuart Betts told CP24.

Betts said police have information that money was withdrawn from Parsi’s account after he disappeared.

“The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are just a little different from what we might normally expect in a missing person’s case,” Betts said.

Parsi’s wife Roya appealed to anyone with information about her husband to come forward.

“I’m so worried, I’m frustrated, I’m tired,” she told CP24 Friday. “There’s no trace unfortunately.”

He is believed to be without cellphone and has not been in contact with any family or friends since he went missing, investigators said in a news release Friday.

Police and Parsi’s family have grown increasingly worried about his wellbeing. His wife, other family and friends gathered Friday near the spot where his vehicle was found to search for any other clues about his disappearance.

A dozen officers also combed through Smyth Park Friday near the area where the vehicle was found.

“I just want him to be found,” Roya Parsi told CP24 at the scene of the search for her husband. “That’s the only thing in my mind, my heart. I just want him back.”

She said her husband has never gone missing before, has no known enemies and that she can’t think of a reason why he would disappear now. She described him as a friendly, conservative man and a good person.

She said she exchanged text messages with her husband just hours before he was last seen leaving the soccer game and nothing seemed out of the ordinary.

“He’s a very punctual guy. He always lets me know if he’s going to be late from work,” she said.

Police are searching through phone and electronic records to try and find any trace of communications over the last few days, but it’s been difficult because Parsi’s phone is off, his wife said.

“He was happy, he would always make me laugh,” she said through tears. “He’s everything to me – he’s my best friend. I can’t describe my feelings right now – I just need him to be by my side.”

She asked that anyone with information about where her husband might be come forward so that police can find him.

“Any small piece of information will help us to get closer to him. Hopefully we can find him alive and healthy – that’s all I’m asking for,” she said.

Parsi is described as a Middle-Eastern man with a slim build and a tanned complexion. He stands five-foot-six and has short, black hair. He was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt and black jogging pants. However he may have had a change of clothes with him when he disappeared.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact York Regional Police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7441, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-tips.
