No injuries are reported after a two-alarm house fire tore through a home in North York Saturday.

Firefighters were called to the home on Killamarsh Drive in the Finch Avenue and Keele Street area around 11:30 a.m. when numerous people in the area reported seeing heavy black smoke coming from the house.

When they arrived on the scene, freighters found the garage and roof engulfed in flames and the fire was quickly upgraded to a second alarm.

Some 50 firefighters and 12 fire trucks managed to get the blaze under control a short time later.

Speaking to CP24 at the scene, Platoon Chief Peter Rose said the fire was seeded well into the home.

“It’s under control at this time,” Rose said. “We’re still inside and they’re opening up the walls and the ceilings and floor to hit fire that’s hidden right now.”

Rose said firefighters were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to neighbouring homes.

No damage estimate was immediately available.

Rose said the fire started in the garage. The exact cause has not yet been determined.
