For at least the second time this week, a Toronto police cruiser has been involved in a crash.

In the latest collision, a police car and a civilian vehicle collided near Oriole Parkway and Tranmer Avenue shortly before 12:45 p.m., said police spokesman Const. Tony Vella.

Vella said no injuries were reported in the two-vehicle crash, although an ambulance was sent to the scene to assess the vehicles’ occupants.

The circumstances of the crash are under investigation.

Earlier this week, a police officer suffered minor injuries when his cruiser crashed into a traffic light standard at Eglinton Avenue West and Islington Avenue early Monday morning.

Police previously said the car’s steering rod broke as the officer was making a turn while looking for suspects in a series of break-ins.

Meanwhile, Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is probing the death of a pedestrian who was fatally struck by a Toronto police car at Highway 27 and Rexdale Boulevard last Saturday.

In a news release, the SIU said the cruiser was escorting a funeral procession when 64-year-old Satyawatti (Janet) Katryan was struck.
