Peel police have identified the victim of an early morning shooting at a crowded Brampton banquet hall.

Police say 25 year-old Ricky Ricardo Dunkley of Hamilton was shot at a facility on Bovaird Drive West near Hurontario Street at around 4:15 a.m.

According to police, the man suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and was pronounced on scene.

Police also discovered a blood trail at the scene and believe there may be another victim in the shooting.

A function was underway at the banquet hall when shots first rang out and police are appealing to those who were inside to come forward with information.

“When there are people on scene that may have seen something or heard something those people provide a key that we cannot find anywhere else,” Const. Thomas Ruttan told CP24 at the scene Sunday morning. “We need those people to come forward and tell us what has taken place.”

No arrests have been made and police say there are no suspects so far.

It is not immediately clear whether the victim was targeted, according to Ruttan.

Police are asking anyone who may have information about the shooting to call investigators in the Homicide Bureau at (905) 453-2121, ext. 3205 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
