A report being released Monday is expected to provide updated funding projections for Mayor John Tory’s SmartTrack plan.

The report comes from Friends and Allies of SmartTrack (FAST) and is authored by two men who worked as volunteers on Tory’s 2014 mayoral campaign.

The report makes use of updated projections released by city staff in March to re-examine the feasibility of raising $2.5 billion through tax increment financing.

The funding model was a key part of Tory’s transit plan when he ran for mayor. The updated calculations come a week after Tory joined Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca for two announcements about new stations that will be part of the new SmartTrack line.

The report, a preview of which was obtained by CP24, projects SmartTrack will boost commercial growth in two of three zones, but not the downtown core.

The entire report is set to be released Monday.
