Two men are facing charges after they alleged bilked an elderly woman out of $19,000 for work to her home that they never actually completed.

Police say the men approached the woman at her home in the St. Clair Avenue and Victoria Park Avenue during the day when she was alone.

The men then made the woman believe that they had completed work to the exterior of her home when they hadn’t.

At that point, police allege that the men demanded payment for the work. The man then continued to visit the woman at her home and call her on the phone, demanding further payment.

Police say that the men eventually collected $19,000 in cash payments and stolen cheques from the woman’s residence.

Kevin Sampson, 40, and Mark Kalka, 39, were arrested on Friday and charged with a combined 14 charges.

Police say that they believe there may be other victims who have not yet come forward.
