As confirmed cases of COVID-19 continue to mount locally, CP24 is keeping a running tally of cases involving people who might be employed in a public-facing role.

Sunday, April 26:

Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua says four employees at a Costco located on Highway 7 and Weston Road have tested positive for COVID-19. He says two onsite inspections have been conducted by York Region Public Health. At this time, the risk to Costco shoppers at that location is considered low, he says.

Wednesday, April 22:

Loblaws says that an employee at its Forest Hill location at 396 St. Clair Avenue has tested positive. They say that the store was closed overnight for a “thorough cleaning” but has since reopened. To minimize risk, Loblaws says that it has implemented “increased sanitization protocols” and is now “enforcing social distancing practices in the store.”

Tuesday, April 21:

An employee at a No Frills location on Yonge Street south of Steels Avenue has tested positive for COVID-19. The grocer says that the employee has not been present at the store since April 16. They also say that a thorough deep-clean and sanitization of the store was conducted overnight and that all customers with recent transactions are being contacted out of an “abundance of caution.”

Monday, April 20:

Longos says that one of its employees at its Leaside location has tested positive for COVID-19. They say that the employee’s last shift was April 19. Upon learning of the diagnosis, Longos said that it decided to close the store for a thorough disinfection and cleaning. It says that it has also asked all other employees who had close contact with the infected team members to stay home. Those employees will still be paid in full, Longos says.

Thursday, April 16:

Caanda Post said eight employees at its Dixie Road facility have tested positive for COVID-19. The Crown corporation said the employees had been exposed to the virus outside of the workplace. The employees had not been in the facility since early April and were non-symptomatic at work, Canada Post said in a statement.

Two more TTC employees have contracted the virus. As of Thursday, there are now 19 TTC employees who have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Wednesday, April 15:

Salvation Army Broadview Village says three of its residents and four of its staff have tested positive for COVID-19.

There are now 17 TTC employees who have contracted the virus. Meanwhile, Toronto police said there are now 12 members who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Three correctional officers at Ontario Correctional Institute in Brampton has tested positive for COVID-19, Mayor Patrick Brown confirmed.

Tuesday, April 14:

Anson Place Care Centre in Hagersville, Ont. confirms that four more residents infected with COVID-19 have died. The recent deaths bring the total number of deaths at the facility to 19, including 16 patients in long-term care and three occupants of the retirement residence.

Monday, April 13

A screening officer at Toronto Pearson International Airport has tested positive for COVID-19, a spokesperson for the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority confirmed to CP24.

Canada Post says that two employees at its Dixie Road facility in Mississauga have tested positive for COVID-19. It says that one of the employees is a driver while the other works in processing in the east side of the facility. Both employees have been away from the facility for the last week and were asymptomatic when last at work, Canada Post says. A comprehensive cleaning and sanitation of the building was conducted as a precaution on Sunday.

Sunday, April 12

A fourth Brampton Transit operator has tested positive for COVID-19, the city confirmed Sunday. The operator last worked on April 7 on Route 23 Sandalwood.

Friday, April 10: 

Baycrest Hospital confirms three residents of Apotex Centre have tested positive for the virus and one has passed away. The hospital also confirmed that four staff members at Apotex have also tested positive for the virus. One member of the hospital's food services team and one patient at the hospital have tested positive as well.

A Vaughan Longo's store will be temporarily closed until April 23 after seven staff members tested positive for COVID-19.

Three more residents of a long-term care home in East York die after contracting COVID-19.

A total of 12 Toronto Public Health employees have now tested positive for COVID-19, a spokesperon confirmed on Friday.

Thursday, April 9:

Four residents of Mon Sheong Home for the Aged, a long-term care home in downtown Toronto, have died after becoming infected with COVID-19.

The TTC now says nine employees have tested positive for the virus, including a bus mechanic at Duncan Shop, a subway operator at Wilson, a Wheel-Trans operator, a bus technician at the Old Davenport building, a bus operator at Mount Dennis, a station collector from Danforth Division, a streetcar operator from Roncesvalles Division, and a bus operator at Mount Dennis.

Ten Toronto Police Service members have tested positive for the virus.

Of those members, five had been previously confirmed in March. It includes three employees at 14 Division, a 23 Division staff member and one employee from police headquarters. The five new cases include one from Traffic Services, one from court services, one from 55 Division and two employees from 52 Division.

Tuesday, April 7

Public health officials confirmed that a client at Seaton House, an emergency men's shelter near Jarvis and Gerrard streets, has tested positive for the virus. It is the sixth confirmed COVID-19 case in the city's shelter system.

Canada Post says that an employee at its Milton depot has tested positive for COVID-19. They say that the employee has not been at work since March 20, which was 14 days prior to receiving their positive test results. Canada Post says that Halton Region public health officials have contacted every employee who was in contact with the individual in the days before they left work but none of them have any exhibited any symptoms at this point. They also say that they did additional cleaning of all surfaces within the depot over the weekend as an additional precaution.

Monday, April 6:

Toronto police have confirmed that nine members of the police service have tested positive for COVID-19. The two latest cases involve employees at 52 Division.

COVID-19 outbreaks at Chartwell Ballycliffe Long Term Care in Ajax and Chartwell Westbury Long Term Care in Etobicoke have been reported and a spokesperson for the homes confirmed that a resident of the Ajax facility has since passed away after being diagnosed with the virus.

Sunday, April 5

Eight employees at two Longo's in Vaughan have tested positive for the virus. In a statement Sunday, York Region Public Health said seven staff at the 9200 Weston Road location and one staff at the 2810 Major Mackenzie Drive location contracted COVID-19. None of the cases are currently working in the stores, officials said, adding that they have identified those who have come in contact with the cases.

A Peel paramedic has tested positive for COVID-19 after being exposed to the virus while responding to a collision. Peel Public Health says the paramedic and their partner are in self-isolation.

Friday, April 3

An employee at Fab's No Frills in Vaughan has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual has not been in the store since Tuesday, the company said. The store was closed Friday for thorough cleaning. It is expected to reopen Saturday.

A Brampton Transit operator at its Sandalwood facility tested positive for COVID-19. It is the second Brampton Transit employee who contracted the virus. The transit agency said the operator worked the Route 2 Main, Route 501 Zum Queen, and Route 505 Zum Bovaired on March 28.

A Shoppers Drug Mart employee at Humbertown Shopping Centre tested positive for the virus, a spokesperson for the company confirmed. The store was closed for cleaning but has since reopened Friday morning.

Thursday, April 2

Sunnybrook Hospital has announced that one of its nurses in its neonatal intensive care unit has tested positive. They say that the nurse was confirmed to have the virus on March 28. They say that other medical professionals in the unit were already wearing masks while on duty, so their risk of infection is believed to be low.

Toronto police confirm that an officer from its Traffic Services unit is the sixth member of the police service to test positive for COVID-19.

Wednesday, April 1

Metrolinx says that two more of its employees have tested positive. The employees worked in rail operations and capital. Metrolinx says that no other staff or members of the public are thought to be at risk since the employees were covered by a work-from-home policy that went into effect on March 16.

The TTC confirms that a sixth employee has tested positive for COVID-19. The collector last worked on March 19, three days before experiencing any symptoms, the TTC says.

Tuesday, March 31

Toronto police say that five of their members have tested positive for COVID-19 so far, though two of them were previously confirmed as having the virus. Three of the employees work out of 14 Division while one works out of 23 Division and one works out of TPS headquarters on College Street

The LCBO confirms that an employee at its St Lawrence Market location at 87 Front Street East has tested positive for COVID-19. They say that the employee last worked at the store on March 15 and is “currently resting at home.” It is the second confirmed case of COVID-19 at the LCBO after an employee at its store at Allen and Rimrock roads was confirmed to have the virus last week.

The Hamilton Police Service says that one of its frontline officers tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday. They say that the individual had not had any contact with the community since March 12 and “is believed to have contracted the disease within the community.”
