York Regional Police are looking for a group of people who assaulted a male during a home invasion in Vaughan early Tuesday morning.

Police spokesman Const. Blair McQuillan said four males confronted the victim in his home on Treelawn Boulevard, near Highway 27 and Islington Avenue, at about 4:30 a.m.

In addition to the victim, two women were inside the house at the time.

After the assault, the victim was taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, McQuillan told CP24.

Police did not say if a weapon was used in the attack.

The home invaders fled and are being sought by police.

A canine unit was brought in to assist in the search in the neighbourhood.
