Two of three bargaining units of CUPE Local 3903 have rejected York University's latest contract offer, a union representative said Monday night.

Nearly 1,300 of 3,700 eligible members participated in the vote. Striking workers have been off the job since last Tuesday after 71 per cent voted to reject a contract offer.

Unit 1, composed of teaching assistants who are graduate students, and Unit 3, composed of graduate and research assistants who are graduate students, voted to reject the offer 59 per cent and 77 per cent, respectively.

Both units remain on strike.

Unit 2, composed of contract faculty who are not graduate students, voted 65 per cent to accept the offer.

The impact on suspended classes was not immediately known.

York University has yet to comment on the vote.
