IVY, Ont. - Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne is wishing Rob Ford a speedy recovery following his tumour diagnosis last week, but is not commenting on his brother joining the mayoral race.

Speaking at an event near Barrie, Ont., Wynne said Tuesday that her thoughts are with the Toronto mayor and his family.

Ford withdrew his mayoral bid last week after doctors discovered a potentially cancerous tumour in his abdomen, opting instead to run as councillor.

His brother -- Coun. Doug Ford -- is now running for mayor.

The provincial government has mostly stayed away from the controversies surrounding the Toronto mayor, saying Rob Ford's conduct should be dealt with at city council.

Wynne declined to comment about Liberal MPPs endorsing former Progressive Conservative leader John Tory, the leading candidate for Rob Ford's job.
