Bob Summers

Traffic Specialist

Bob Summers

Bob Summers joined the CP24 team in March 1998 and is currently the channel's traffic specialist. He is respected in the broadcast industry for his thorough yet fun approach to traffic reporting.

When he is not on the air, Summers is busy gathering GTA traffic information from police and callers as well as transit and transportation agencies to get his viewers and listeners where they need to go.

Before landing in Toronto, Summers worked for CFOR in Orillia, CFCO in Chatham, CKGM Montreal and CJAD also in Montreal where he found himself high above the city in a tiny helicopter surveying the traffic patterns of Montreal.

Summers returned to Toronto to work for 104.5 CHUM FM and1050 CHUM as a newscaster/reporter before helping CHUM make the transition to airborne traffic reporting with a small plane and spent seven years as CHUM's airborne traffic reporter. In the late 1990's the switch to traffic cameras meant a whole new approach to reporting the traffic and Summers began spending time with his feet on the ground in front of a camera as well as a microphone.

In his spare time he releases his creative energy by acting and building sets for Theatre Etobicoke. He mentored the industry's up-and-comers as an instructor for radio news at Seneca College and continues to do his part in the community by supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Canada and the Aids Walk. He is also an integral part of the annual CP24/CHUM Christmas Wish.
