Pooja Handa
Traffic/Weather Specialist/Anchor
Pooja Handa is one of those broadcasters who can be sent on any assignment and will deliver.
She can be seen anchoring the news, reporting from the streets of the GTA, broadcasting the latest traffic conditions or delivering weather to help you plan your day.
Before joining CP24, Pooja worked at Global Television as a traffic reporter and entertainment host for Global Morning News in Toronto. While the city slept, she mapped out hotspots on the highways and presented a complete traffic picture so viewers could navigate their way to work with ease.
Pooja quickly became a fan favourite by creating and hosting a unique segment called the PH FACTOR (Pooja Handa FACTOR). Pooja's fun-filled segment delivered all the Hollywood gossip and entertainment headlines along with her own commentary and side humour.
And it was the personal touch that viewers loved, making it one of the most popular segments of the Global Morning News program.
Pooja has always loved the arts. She graduated from an arts-focused high school in Mississauga where she majored in drama.
Then, Pooja bravely ventured to New York City where she studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. After learning with some of the best in the Big Apple, Pooja returned to the GTA to pursue a career in broadcasting.
She was accepted into York University and Seneca College's joint broadcast journalism program. Pooja graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Women's Studies at York University and also gained a diploma in Broadcast Journalism at Seneca College in April 2002.
Upon graduation, Pooja hosted a number of South Asian multicultural programs. She worked as reporter and weekend anchor for Rogers Television in Peel Region before landing her job at Global Television.
Pooja is passionate about charity work and helping others. Born and raised in the GTA, Pooja makes it a priority to give back to the community. She continues to be active in the South Asian Community.
