Caryn Lieberman

Breaking News Producer

caryn lieberman

Caryn brings both national and local experience to CP24. She joined the team in January 2008 after working as a news writer for CTV National with Lloyd Robertson, and Sandie Rinaldo. During that time, she was the recipient of the L.A. Press Club Award for best hard news coverage of the 2008 California Wildfires.

Prior to making the move to Toronto, Caryn, a native of Montreal, spent several years with Global Quebec, beginning as one of the station's first interns. She quickly climbed the career ladder, soon reporting and producing daily news and several major productions, including, municipal and federal election shows.

Her dream of being in front of the camera materialized soon after when she became a host of a weekly show, and news reporter in Global's Quebec City bureau. That experience brought her to Fort Bliss, Texas where she covered the Canadian Military training for Afghanistan, a true career highlight, as well as, the departure and return of soldiers to CFB Valcartier. She also appeared on Global National, covering the trial of former Olympian Myriam Bedard.

Caryn was bitten by the television bug early on. In fifth grade, for her final class project, Caryn took on the persona of Barbara Walters and conducted a makeshift interview. So, years later when applying to Universities, there was no question. Concordia University's Specialization in Journalism and Communication Studies was the program for her. She completed her Bachelor's Degree cum laude.

What's Caryn's favorite part of breaking and reporting the news? "It's listening to people, and giving them a voice, by sharing their stories. It's recognizing that everybody has a story."

Her passion for news aside, Caryn is a former hip hop dance instructor, art teacher, and newspaper columnist. She loves living in Toronto and enjoys soaking up the city's cultural side.
