A judge has ruled that some information relating to the arrest of Alexander "Sandro" Lisi can be made public. The documents are expected to be released Thursday morning.

Lisi is Toronto Mayor Rob Ford's friend and was his occasional driver.

Media lawyers argued for the release of an almost 500-page document because it could contain references to Ford and could explain the relationship between the two. The lawyer representing this company and a number of other media organizations says it's in the public interest that the document be released.

Media lawyer Peter Jacobsen spoke to reporters outside court on Wednesday afternoon after the decision came down.

"Obviously in this case there is a much larger agenda in play because the Lisi investigation does involve the mayor -- we know that he's a friend -- so the whole issue is in the public interest, and on top of that, it was put before the judge," he said.

Asked about the pending release of the documents, Ford declined comment.

“I can’t comment about anything before the courts,” he said to reporters at city hall.

Lisi is currently facing marijuana trafficking charges and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
